Stewardship West is thrilled to announce that we are accepting bids for 135 acres of Forest Health/Fuel Reduction work on private land near Bailey, CO. The project is located 45 miles west of Denver, CO on private land with three different landowners all within two miles of one another. This project is grant funded and will be administered on behalf of the three separate landowners by Stewardship West.  The project site is at 8,100’ in elevation, the forest type is dry mixed conifer and is predominately comprised of Ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir, with a mixture of less than 40% slopes (mechanical treatments) and some areas of very steep slopes that will be hand treatment.  The project is on three different landowners' properties all located off the Highway 285 along the North Fork of the Upper South Platte river.

The contractor will be responsible for implementing both mechanical and hand treatments on units that have been cut tree marked as well as one HIZ treatment for one cabin and a garage. Slash and tops will need to be chipped/mulched or hauled offsite.  Mechanical treatments will be thinned to a 40 BA, hand treatments to 80 BA. There is also one cabin that will need to have Defensible Space work done around it (See Appendix D on contract).   A project map and the draft contract with the scope of work and specifications are attached as well as a georeferenced PDF map. The ideal work window is October 1st - April 30, 2026.  Due to two of the properties being resorts, the opportunity for summer work is severely limited and a strong preference will be given to the contractors that can complete the work this fall/winter.

Contractors should also be advised that due to grant restrictions, all work in all units must be completed and inspected prior to invoicing and payment. No partial payments will be available.

There will be a Pre-Bid Meeting at 10:00 AM on July 29th, 2025 at the Park County offices.  We will then carpool to the project sites which are located within one mile. We are requesting prospective bidders RSVP to luke@stewardshipwest.org by 4 PM MDT on July 28th.  The pre-bid meeting will have representatives from Stewardship West and we will be walking through the project area and will be available to answer any questions that you may have.  Although attendance is NOT required at the pre-bid meeting to submit a bid, it is highly recommended as it will be an opportunity to see the site and get any questions you may have answered regarding specifications, hauling restrictions, or any other items that may impact the bid.

A bid sheet, DRAFT contract with a scope of work and map are linked below. Prospective bidders must fill out the bid sheet and email them to me no later than 11:59 PM August 15, 2025. While overall per acre price is a major consideration for selection, bids will be evaluated by a committee based on ‘best value’ criteria. Best value considers both price criteria and non-price criteria. Non-price criteria may include, but are not limited to, product utilizations, past performance, work quality, experience, and estimated date of completion. Strong preference will be given to bids that can complete the work by April 30th, 2026, and that maximize product removal from the site. This entire bid request can be found here on our website.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have via email, text or calling my cell @ 719-728-8165.   Thank you for your time and consideration and we look forward to seeing you on July 29th.
