Project Overview

Located between the High Meadow and Buffalo Creek burn scars, the Jerome Miller and Miller Gulch Projects were completed in just over two years. Treatments focused on improving forest health and reducing wildfire risk in one of Colorado's highest-priority landscapes. This area supports critical watersheds, wildlife habitat, recreation access, and the drinking water supply for the Denver metro region.

The projects are part of the Crossons-Longview NEPA project and were completed on time and within budget. They demonstrate the impact of strategic, collaborative restoration across large, at-risk forest systems.

Our Role

Stewardship West supported field implementation through stand cleaning and thinning, mechanical fuels reduction, non-commercial thinning and piling, and the removal and decking of sawtimber and non-sawtimber.

Road work was also completed to support access and logistics throughout the project area. In addition, we worked closely with contractors to make use of non-sawtimber material that had not been previously utilized, helping to reduce waste and improve overall efficiency.
